The Horton Technique

No summer 2010 sessions for this class - starts again in fall 2010
Please join Valerie Ifill in this 12-week session of the Horton technique. These beginning/intermediate Horton classes are designed as a fun and exciting conditioning tool for the intermediate dancer. This technique, developed by Modern dance pioneer, Lester Horton, is known for its ability to prepare the dancer for any style of movement by increasing both length and strength in the body. Come join us in this dynamic and lively dance style!
Day: Saturday (September 19th – December 5th)
Class Time: 12:00pm-1:20pm
Cost: $8 for drop ins or $75 for the entire session

Valerie Ifill
Valerie Ifill is a local artist and teacher dedicated to creating fulfilling dance experiences for both dancers and audience. Valerie graduated from the University of Oregon in June of 2009 where she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in dance. As a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Oregon, she has had the opportunity to teach classes in Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, African, Improvisation, and Ballroom dance. Valerie’s most recent research efforts have been dedicated to the Horton technique, which is a form of modern dance created to condition the body to adapt to any dance style. Her current project is preparing for the debut of her contemporary modern dance company, Ifilldance. Valerie is thrilled to be working with the talented instructors and dance students at the EDGE!
