Urban Gardener

Learn vegetable gardening basics such as the difference between soil and soil amendments, how each contributes to plant health, how to water correctly, how to plant seeds, how to fertilize, how our climate & weather affect our gardens, composting basics, use of garden tools, different styles of gardening, and information about urban micro-livestock.
Leave with hands-on skills, a hanging basket with edible leaves that you start, a flat of vegetable starts, and a notebook full of resources.

Day: Thursday: Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24, March 3, 10, 17, 31, April 7, 14 -- March 24 is spring break. We can either have class that week if everyone wants it and end April 7, or skip the week if folks are going out of town.

Sherry Wellborn
Sherry Wellborn lives in Amazon Neighborhood with her two children, two rabbits, and a cat. Her passion is gardening which she does in the alley, the neighbor’s garden space, and in a community garden at Alton-Baker Park, and now at The Reach Center. She completed Climate Masters training through the Climate Leadership Initiative in 2008. She is an expert in gardening, composting, and Climate Masters (reducing carbon footprint at home (energy/waste/recycling), in the yard, through food selection, and transportation choices).
